About Me

I was born and raised in Denver, where my grandfather—one of the first African American airplane engineer instructors at Lowry Air Force Base—instilled in me a commitment to excellence, justice, and breaking barriers. I also grew up in a small church where I learned the values of service, community, and speaking up for what’s right.

I’m a proud graduate of Denver Public Schools. While I had amazing teachers, I didn’t have one who looked like me until college. As a neurodivergent student, I understood what it felt like to learn differently, which gave me deep empathy for students with unique learning needs. These experiences shaped my calling: to become the teacher I needed when I was younger.

I have devoted my entire teaching career to District 4, serving students and families in Montbello and Green Valley Ranch. I stood up for my colleagues and community as a 2019 teacher strike captain, fought to protect educator rights at innovation schools, and founded the DCTA Black Educators Caucus to uplift the voices of educators of color.

My advocacy led me to the Colorado Education Association, where I helped launch a mental health hotline for educators, created a fellowship for educators of color, and successfully pushed for the creation of CEA’s first Human and Civil Rights Department, which I now lead. I oversee statewide efforts in racial justice, LGBTQ+ inclusion, and mental health access.

At home, I’m a proud mom in a blended family of six. We hold board meetings at the dinner table, start clubs, share big ideas, and support each other with love and intention.

I’m running because I know this district from every angle, as the only candidate who has been a DPS student, a current DPS parent, and a DPS teacher. I’m proud to be backed by DCTA and educators across our city who know what our students and schools deserve.
